½-1 head garlic minced depending on preference, minced
1 sweet onion, diced
½ red bell pepper, diced
½ green bell pepper, diced
1/3 yellow bell pepper, diced
1/3 cup carrots, diced
4 tbsp avocado oil
Bread or Sandwich buns of choice
Sauce
¾ cup ketchup
2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
2 tsp sriracha
2 tsp pink salt
1 tsp ground black pepper
1 tsp garlic powder
3 tbsp coconut sugar
½ cup bone broth or water
Directions
Warm 2 tbsp of the avocado oil in a pan over medium heat, add the prepared garlic, onions, and peppers, cook until onions are translucent and the peppers and carrots have softened. If meatless and using beans/lentils, add them to the pan followed by the sauce ingredients here, and allow to simmer on low about 8 minutes. If using beef or other meat, follow the next steps
Transfer the veggie mixture to a bowl and set aside, then warm the remaining oil in the pan and add beef, breaking up with a spatula and allowing to cook completely
As beef cooks, whisk all sauce ingredients together in a bowl
Once beef is cooked through, add veggie mixture and sauce to the pan, and simmer on low 8-10 minutes stirring every few minutes. Add extra ketchup and broth in small quantities if more sauce is desired
Spoon the mixture onto bread or bun of choice and serve warm
