This is Halloween! Pat loves sweets, Halloween, and is so excited to share this new festive Spooky Halloween Rice Crispy Treat recipe with you! Halloween may look different this year for many of us but Pat hopes you enjoy and stay safe!
1 (10 oz) bag of mini marshmallows + 1 cup mini marshmallows
1 heaping tablespoon cocoa powder
1 stick of butter (salted or unsalted, both work)
8 x 12 Tupperware, baking pan or casserole dish (something similar in size will work, does not need to be exact)
Directions
Line your baking dish with a couple strips of parchment paper
Melt the butter in a pot or deep pan over low heat. Once it's fully melted, add in the cocoa powder and mix. Next add in the bag of marshmallows, stir continuously until they are fully melted and fully mixed in with the cocoa powder - should look homogenous. Remove from heat
Take the wrapper from your stick of butter and rub the buttery side along the inside of a large mixing bowl - this will help keep it non stick. Next add in the rice krispies then pour in the melted marshmallows - immediately and gently fold in the melted marshmallows. Transfer to your baking dish.Use the flat bottom of a measuring cup to push the mix down into a level layer. Transfer to the freezer for 20-30 minutes then remove
Add the extra cup of marshmallows to a microwave safe bowl and microwave 20 seconds then use a spoon to stir until smooth. Use your fingers or a couple of utensils to stretch the marshmallow fluff out across the rice krispies in a cobweb fashion
Freeze for another 20 minutes then use a sharp knife to cut!
